The protesters blocked both lanes of the freeway, bringing traffic to a standstill as authorities in riot gear created a line beneath a bridge to prevent them from moving forward, the LAPD Central Division wrote on X. California Highway Patrol officers in riot gear responded and corralled the crowd onto an exit ramp, forcing the protesters off the freeway.

Mass shooter who opened fire at graduation party is just one of the migrants busted in LA ICE raids: 'That's who they're protesting for' | 9 June 2025 | Some of the illegal immigrants detained in the ICE raids that sparked the Los Angeles riots are convicted criminals with rap sheets for sexual assault, gang activity, and even murder -- including a Vietnamese national convicted of carrying out a mass shooting at a high school graduation party that shocked Southern California. Phan is a killer, convicted of second-degree murder. After he was kicked out of an LA county high school graduation party in 1994, he returned with gang member associates and fired semiautomatic rifles into a crowd of 30 people, killing two teens and wounding seven others, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Gavin Newsom and other Democrats repeatedly claiming the demonstrations have been largely peaceful. The unidentified person was caught on camera dispersing what appeared to be riot shields and gas masks to the crowd from the back of a pickup truck Monday afternoon -- just steps from downtown federal buildings. Scores of rioters could be seen running toward the truck to grab the masks, which had the brand "Bionic Shield" emblazoned across them, the footage shot by Fox11 showed. "This is a worrying sight," Fox11 anchor Elex Michaelson reacted to the clip.

U.S. to cut Ukraine aid - defense secretary | 10 June 2025 | The White House will be slashing military funding for Ukraine as the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump seeks a peaceful resolution to the conflict, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said. The Pentagon chief made the statement before the House Appropriations Committee in Congress on Tuesday. "It is a reduction in this budget," Hegseth said when asked about upcoming military aid funding for Ukraine. "This administration takes a very different view of that conflict," he added. Last week, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance echoed Trump's criticism of his predecessor Joe Biden, accusing his administration of spending "crazy" amounts of m-ney on supporting Kiev. "They sent 300 billion to Ukraine," without "trying to force a diplomatic settlement," he said.

Colombia: president says shot candidate had security detail cut on day of attack | 9 June 2025 | The security detail for the Colombian presidential candidate who was shot at a campaign rally at the weekend was severely reduced on the day of the attack, the country's president has said. Miguel Uribe Turbay, 39, was shot twice in the head at close range by an alleged 15-year-old hitman while campaigning in Bogota on Saturday. He has reportedly shown little response to medical interventions and, according to his wife, needs "a miracle" to survive. On Monday, President Gustavo Petro called for an investigation into the sudden reduction of the security team, posting on social media: "I must now report that the protection scheme for Senator Uribe was reduced, strangely, on the day of the attack, from seven to three people." Uribe's lawyer Victor Mosquera said he had filed a criminal complaint against the protection unit in charge of security for high-profile and at-risk personalities, alleging that he had made more than 20 requests for increased security this year alone.

Thunberg departed Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning on a flight to France after she agreed to be deported, the Israeli foreign ministry said. Upon arriving at an airport in Paris, Thunberg accused Israel of illegally kidnapping her and other activists on the boat while they were in international waters. France said five of the six French citizens detained alongside her had refused to sign their deportation orders and would now be subject to judicial proceedings.
Israeli forces seize Gaza aid boat carrying Greta Thunberg | 9 June 2025 | Israeli naval forces boarded and seized a charity vessel carrying Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, which had tried to break the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip on Monday. The British-flagged yacht, Madleen, which is operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, had aimed to deliver a symbolic amount of aid to Gaza later on Monday and raise international awareness of the humanitarian crisis there. "If you see this video, we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by Israeli occupational forces or forces that support Israel," Thunberg, 22, said in a video released by the FCC, filmed before the vessel was captured. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that the vessel was under Israeli control.
'Rubber stamp' vaccine advisory board fired by RFK Jr. for conflicts of interest has revealing past | 10 June 2025 | A federal public health advisory panel long dominated by pharmaceutical influence, whose expressed reservations about particular inoculations never stopped it from recommending them, is getting a fresh start under the drug industry's most powerful critic. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Monday the removal of all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, citing "persistent conflicts of interest" that made it "little more than a rubber stamp for any vaccine." Some of the current members were "last-minute appointees of the Biden administration" whose presence would have kept President Trump from appointing new members until his last year in office, Kennedy wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed.
Appeals Court rules most Trump tariffs can remain in effect pending legal challenge | 10 June 2025 | A federal appeals court on Tuesday night agreed to impose a stay on President Donald Trump's tariffs while the full appeals process plays out, blocking a lower court's ruling that struck down the tariffs. The order comes after the U.S. Court of International Trade struck down most of the president's "Liberation Day" tariffs last month, ruling that the president overstepped his authority. The new stay does not impact Trump's sector-based tariffs on things like aluminum and steel, but does impact his 10% global baseline tariff, along with the tariffs he imposed on China and other countries.

Read that Trump has ordered everyone wearing a face mask be arrested - that is probably because they can't be identified on CCTV, wearing a face covering, or arrested later on, when the fuss dies down - that right?
