French government collapses | 8 Sept 2025 | The French government has fallen after Prime Minister Francois Bayrou lost a crucial confidence vote in parliament on Monday. Bayrou is the second consecutive prime minister under President Emmanuel Macron to be ousted, throwing the nation into political and economic turmoil. A no-confidence motion in the National Assembly requires at least 288 votes to pass. Monday's motion received 364 votes, with the left-wing New Popular Front and the right-wing National Rally uniting in opposition to end a months-long standoff over Bayrou's austerity budget... Bayrou's ouster reportedly leaves the French president to choose between appointing a Socialist prime minister to steer a budget through parliament, effectively ceding control of domestic policy, or call snap elections that polls suggest favour Marine Le Pen's National Rally.

Six candidates from Germany's right-wing AfD party die 13 days apart in lead-up to local elections - report | 2 Sept 2025 | Four candidates and two reserves from the right-wing AfD political party in Germany have dropped dead within 13 days of each other -- just before elections, according to reports. The Alternative for Deutschland candidates were set to appear on ballots in North Rhine-Westphalia on September 14. Officials said no foul play is currently suspected in any of their deaths, the [frauds at the] BBC reported. The mass of untimely deaths among AfD candidates has forced officials to reprint ballots several times and invalidate some mail-in ballots, according to the BBC. [What are the odds?]

Former Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny commissioned the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines - media | 8 Sept 2025 | Former Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny commissioned the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in 2022, German newspaper Die Welt reported on Monday, citing an investigator familiar with the matter. According to the newspaper, German investigators believe they have cracked the case of the attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2, which run under the Baltic Sea and were built to carry Russian natural gas directly to Germany. Previous Western media reports claimed that the authorities already knew the identities of the entire crew -- reportedly made up of Ukrainian nationals -- aboard the yacht Andromeda, which is suspected of being the vessel involved in the sabotage.

Zelensky appoints graft suspect as new ambassador to U.S. | 28 Aug 2025 | Vladimir Zelensky has appointed former Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina as Ukraine's new ambassador to the U.S., despite ongoing corruption allegations linked to her past government work. In his evening address on Wednesday, Zelensky announced that the "formal procedures have been completed" and said he had instructed Stefanishina to "fully implement all the agreements reached in Washington, primarily in the defense sphere." Stefanishina had served as Ukraine's deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration (2020-2025) and as minister of justice (2024-2025), before her temporary appointment as a special envoy to the U.S. in July amid renewed graft allegations.

Ukraine takes new step towards banning its largest Christian church | 31 Aug 2025 | Kiev has taken another step toward banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) by officially declaring it linked to Russia. The ruling paves the way for a full ban on the country's largest religious institution through the courts. Vladimir Zelensky's [satanic] government has been increasingly taking aim at the UOC in recent years, a policy that has hardened in light of the conflict with Russia. Several of its churches have been seized, and criminal cases have been opened against clerics. This week, Ukraine's State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience posted a statement on its website saying that the UOC had been found to be associated with "a foreign religious organization whose activities are banned in Ukraine."

Houthis confirm their prime minister killed in Israeli strike | 30 Aug 2025 | Yemen's Houthi rebel movement has confirmed that its self-proclaimed Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi was killed in an Israeli air strike earlier this week. The Iran-backed group said several other senior officials were killed when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Yemen's capital, Sanaa, on Thursday. The IDF said Rahawi and other senior Houthi officials were "eliminated" when Israeli fighter jets struck a gathering in the Sanaa area. The Houthis said Rahawi had been killed alongside several Houthi ministers, though it did not name the others.

Trump signs executive order rebranding Defense Department as Department of War | 5 Sept 2025 | President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday rebranding the Department of Defense as the Department of War, a more bellicose alternative that echoes the agency's 18th-century name. "I think it sends a message of victory. I think it sends really a message of strength. We're very strong. We're much stronger than anyone would really understand," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office after signing the order... Trump's order does not formally rename the Department of Defense, a move that would require congressional approval. Instead, it makes the Department of War the secondary title and authorizes Hegseth to use titles like secretary of war and Department of War in official correspondence and public communications.

Trump to issue 'paper ballots only' executive order: 'Voter I.D. must be part of every single vote' | 31 Aug 2025 | President Donald Trump announced that he intends to issue an executive order that would include strict voter ID requirements and restrictions on mail-in ballots. He said on Saturday that the executive order would call for the end of electronic voting systems and paper ballots as a replacement. "Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS!" he wrote in a post on his platform Truth Social. "Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!! Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military. USE PAPER BALLOTS ONLY!!!"

Florida to 'End All Vaccine Mandates,' State's Surgeon General Announces | 3 Sept 2025 | Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo announced today plans to eliminate all vaccine mandates in the state, including for children to attend school. "The Florida Department of Health, in partnership with the governor, is going to be working to end all vaccine mandates in Florida," Ladapo said at a press conference in Tampa, hosted by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Florida would be the first state to completely drop all mandated vaccinations. Ladapo said every immunization requirement "is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery." "Who am I as a government? Or anyone else? Or who am I as a man standing here now to tell you what you should put in your body?" he asked. Ladapo said some vaccines are mandated by the Florida Department of Health, but those requirements "are going to be gone." "We are going to work with the governor and lawmakers to get rid of the rest," he added.

World's deadliest disease spreads thousands of miles from Maine outbreak in chilling update | 8 Sept 2025 | A case of the deadly lung disease tuberculosis has been detected in a public high school days after officials announced there were multiple cases in a New England state. An active case of tuberculosis (TB) was reported in someone at Leesville High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, just weeks into the new school year. The patients were diagnosed with active tuberculosis and there was no connection between them, suggesting each was infected by a different source. 54 shot, 7 killed in Chicago weekend bloodbath after Pritzker claims Trump, National Guard not needed | 1 Sept 2025 | Bodies are piling up on the streets of Chicago over Labor Day weekend -- with 54 shot, including seven killed, as President Trump and Illinois Gov. Pritzker spar over sending the National Guard into the Windy City. Fatal stabbing of Ukrainian refugee in North Carolina ignites crime debate | 8 Sept 2025 | The murder of 23-year old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in North Carolina last month has sparked ongoing concerns about crime in the U.S. A video publicised on Friday by the Charlotte Area Transit System shows Ms Zarutska seated on a train when she is stabbed from behind several times in a seemingly random attack. The suspect, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr, is charged with first-degree murder. The graphic video has circulated on social media since its release, attracting the attention of influencers, commentators and politicians. President Donald Trump sent "love and hope" to Ms Zarutska's family, saying on Monday that her killing was "horrible."

Trump administration opens immigration prison in Louisiana | 3 Sept 2025 | The federal government is opening a new immigration detention facility at Louisiana State Penitentiary, which Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem dubbed "Louisiana Lockup" in an announcement Wednesday. She said the federal partnership with the state of Louisiana will include up to 416 beds at the facility also known as Angola Prison. "If you come into this country and you victimize someone, if you take away their child forever, if you traffic drugs and kill our next generation of Americans, and if you traffic our children and men and women, absolutely there's consequences," Noem said during a news conference at the prison. "You're going to end up here." Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said the prison was designed to hold "the worst of the worst."

Appeals court lets Florida keep Everglades immigration detention center Alligator Alcatraz open for now | 4 Sept 2025 | Alligator Alcatraz, the notorious immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades, will be allowed to resume operations. A federal appeals court panel in Atlanta ruled 2-1 on Thursday to stay US District Judge Kathleen's order to end operations indefinitely at the center, saying it was in the public interest to keep it open. Williams, a federal judge based in Miami, had issued a preliminary injunction last month ordering operations at the facility to be wound down by the end of October, with detainees transferred to other facilities and equipment and fencing removed... Judges Elizabeth Branch and Barbara Lagoa, both of whom were appointed by President Donald Trump, also determined on Thursday that keeping Alligator Alcatraz open is in the public interest.
